About the Client

Trevor came to Hove Hair Clinic after experiencing a sudden onset of intense itching on the crown of his scalp in March 2021. The irritation became so severe that it began to weep at night, significantly affecting his comfort and sleep. After waiting several weeks for the symptoms to settle without improvement, Trevor sought medical advice.

He was diagnosed with scalp psoriasis and prescribed a strong steroid ointment. Although this initially helped calm the inflammation, Trevor soon noticed a large patch of hair loss in the treated area, along with an area of hair turning white. This sudden and unexpected hair loss caused significant emotional distress.

Trevor had no family history of hair loss, no known medical conditions linked to hair thinning and normal stress levels. He lived an active lifestyle through his physically demanding job and dog walking, did not drink alcohol but did smoke. His diet was limited in fruit and vegetables, something we noted as part of his overall scalp health picture.

Before Treatment

The Challenge

The primary challenge in Trevor’s case was the inflammatory scalp condition combined with treatment induced hair loss. The area of loss was very visible, which deeply affected Trevor’s confidence. He had begun avoiding social situations and stopped seeing family and friends due to how self-conscious he felt.

On close examination, some follicles were still clearly visible, with others less active but present, and early signs of regrowth beginning. This gave us cautious optimism, but expectations needed to be managed carefully given the severity of inflammation and the disruption to the hair growth cycle.

The Treatment

Trevor began a structured hair and scalp recovery programme combining weekly in clinic support with a targeted home care routine.

His personalised plan included
• HLCC shampoo and conditioner to gently cleanse and rebalance the scalp
• A scalp stimulation spray (referred to by Trevor as his “magic spray”) to support follicle activity
• Targeted topical support products to encourage regrowth
• A 0.5mm derma roller to enhance absorption and stimulate circulation

Trevor attended weekly appointments where derma rolling was performed in clinic, allowing him to learn correct technique safely and confidently before continuing at home. This also gave us the opportunity to closely monitor scalp response and make adjustments where needed.

Alongside treatment, Trevor received guidance around scalp care, lifestyle factors and realistic timelines, ensuring he felt informed and supported throughout.
